Mahjong Rules & How to Win
Mahjong is a strategy-based game where four players compete to complete a winning hand. The objective? Form four sets (triplets or sequences) and one pair before your opponents do!
Game Flow:
🔹 Starting Hand: Each player begins with 13 tiles (the dealer gets 14).
🔹 Turn-Based Play: Draw and discard tiles to build the best hand possible.
🔹 Winning the Round: The first player to complete four sets + one pair declares “Mahjong” and wins!
🔹 Game Continuation: If no one wins before all tiles are drawn, the round ends in a draw.
Tile Combinations Explained
Understanding Mahjong tile combinations is key to success. Here’s what you need to know:
🃏 Pong (Triplet): Three identical tiles (e.g., three 5-bamboo tiles).
🃏 Chow (Sequence): Three consecutive numbers of the same suit (e.g., 3-4-5 of circles).
🃏 Kong (Quadruplet): Four identical tiles, giving you an extra turn.
🃏 Pair: Two matching tiles (e.g., two 9-character tiles).
Winning & Scoring
When a player successfully forms four sets + one pair, they declare “Mahjong” and win the round. Points are calculated based on hand complexity, and the player with the highest-scoring hand takes the prize!
